You can BackUp your current Fritz!Box - BETA [or Lab] Firmware by following these directions:

Access the Fritz!Box User Interface [UI], by typing in Fritz.box or http://192.168.178.1*** and navigate to:

There are 2 options available:

1. Save Firmware with Settings for use only with the Fritz!Box they are being saved from.

2. Save Firmware with Settings for use with any Fritz!Box, this will require a Password to be assigned to the saved file.

Having made your choice of method hit the Save Button

Some may consider the inconvenience of assigning a Password too much trouble and opt for method 1, but before doing so please consider the following.

a. In event of a problem requiring your Fritz!Box to be changed you will NEED to have adopted method 2.

b. It is prudent to consider the possibility of ‘a’ above becoming a reality and keeping a copy of a Password protected Firmware BackUp is an effective insurance.

c. If you maintain regular BackUps of your Firmware you will need to maintain copies produced by both methods if you want the assurance offered in ‘b’, and this will mean maintaining 2 Folders to contain these different products.

Given this situation it seems clear that maintaining one Folder containing method 2 Password protected Files is the simplest, least confusing, most effective and reliable solution? The Password protected File will suit all situations of Restoration.

When the Firmware with Settings is saved it is placed in the Folder designated to hold Downloaded Files. You should check that the freshly saved file has been deposited satisfactorily. If you need to search for it’s FileName will be something like:
